IT TECHNICIAN / ENGINEER

WORK DESCRIPTION:
- Design, implement, maintain, and monitor IT infrastructure including servers, storage systems, network devices, and security appliances;
- Configure, administer, and maintain network equipment such as switches, routers, wireless access points, firewalls, and VPN solutions;
- Monitor infrastructure performance, availability, capacity, and security to ensure business continuity and system reliability;
- Configure, implement, and maintain cybersecurity solutions including firewalls, intrusion detection/prevention systems (IDS/IPS), endpoint security, and access control systems;
- Assist in maintaining IT security, monitor systems, and report or help resolve security-related issues;
- Install, configure, upgrade, and maintain Windows and Linux servers, virtualization platforms, and enterprise applications;
- Manage Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, Group Policy, LDAP services, and identity management systems;
- Implement and maintain backup, disaster recovery, patch management, and business continuity solutions;
- Configure and support load balancing, monitoring systems, cloud services, and hybrid infrastructure environments;
- Maintain and support database servers, application servers, and ticketing systems to ensure smooth business operations;
- Develop and maintain IT security policies, procedures, standards, and technical documentation;
- Evaluate emerging technologies and recommend infrastructure improvements to enhance security, scalability, and operational efficiency;
- Work closely with vendors, consultants, and internal stakeholders for infrastructure deployment, troubleshooting, and project implementation;
- Provide technical support and troubleshooting for hardware, servers, networks, and related IT systems;
- Assist in IT infrastructure projects, system upgrades, testing, and implementation activities;
- Follow company policies, IT security requirements, and standard operating procedures;
- Complete assigned tasks on schedule and report work progress or issues to the supervisor;
- Provide technical support during after-office hours, weekends, public holidays, and emergency situations when required; and
- Perform any other duties and responsibilities assigned by the Division Manager or Management.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Malaysian citizen aged 21 years and above;
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Information Systems, Network Engineering, Cyber Security, or a related field;
- Minimum 1–3 years of relevant working experience;
- Basic knowledge or hands-on experience in IT infrastructure, servers, networking, and technical support;
- Familiarity with Windows and/or Linux servers, network devices, virtualization, cloud platforms, backup solutions, or cybersecurity technologies will be an advantage;
- Experience supporting enterprise IT systems, POS terminals, ticketing systems, access control systems, or related technologies will be an added advantage;
- Relevant professional certifications (e.g. Microsoft, Cisco, VMware, AWS, CompTIA, or equivalent) will be an added advantage;
- Good analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills;
- Good communication skills in English and Bahasa Malaysia;
- Positive attitude, self-motivated, and able to work independently as well as in a team;
- Knowledge of AI, automation, or data analytics technologies will be an added advantage;
- Willing to provide technical support outside normal working hours when required; and
- Preferably based in Penang.
